The Nepali cuisine, also known as the cuisine of the Himalayas, bears its uniqueness by incorporating the two great culinary traditions of the region, namely Indian and Tibetan, into a mainstream culinary culture of its own, which reflects the geographic and demographic diversity prevailing in the Himalayas. Nepal, although a tiny country in size, is the birth place of Gautam Budha - also known as the light of Asia and home soil of the legendary Gurkha soldiers. Nepal stretches from the lowlands of the sub-tropical Terai plains in the South to the highlands of the Himalayas, as dominated by the majestic reign of Mt. Everest, in the North. Hence, Nepal has resurrected its own unique cultural identity into a harmonious culture, combining different traditions of different indigenous cultures rooting onall corners of the country.
We, here at Gurkha Palace, try to preserve this uniqueness and simplicity by using the most authentic flavours to bring you the taste of the Himalayas. Probably some dishes may not have been seen in any other Nepalese restaurant before, we have that speciality here and we will be delighted to assist you in making your selection. We were a party of 3 that attended on the evening of Saturday 9 May 09 and I am writing to thank you for a most beautiful meal last night. We had never eaten a Nepalese meal before and were excited about what to expect. And it did not disappoint. We were all extremely impressed with the quality of the food and the atmosphere. I particularly want to compliment you on the Gurkha Chicken I had, which was, without doubt, the most delightful meal I have ever had in a restaurant.
